Forecourts

Mitigating crime such as drive off, shoplifting and violence towards staff continue to present a security challenge on forecourts. The British Oil Security Syndicate, BOSS, has estimated that total losses incurred by the forecourt industry in Britain during 2006 amounted to £28.9 million where 82% of these losses were due to driving off without payment and motorists who claimed had no means of pay.

Intelligent video analytics can be setup to identify particular activities and areas that may give cause for concern regarding Health and Safety, shoplifting, and robbery. Video can be used to identify persons loitering around particular displays which may be indicative of this activity, capture events and provide evidence directly to the police. Furthermore, video streams can be used to identify persons who have fallen and remain stationary. Help can then be sent quickly and the offending hazard rectified. Video footage would be used to verify whether the incident actually happened and to prove any alleged negligence.
